Today I got a real feel for what the teaching experience is. I sat with my supervising teacher and we planned the lesson during our planning period. We put together a preview for a new unit of study in Social Studies over "New Empires and New Faiths". It is looking like we may not be at school for a while after today, there is a big ice/snow storm headed our way. The kids were excited but the teachers were a bit disappointed. I now see why the teachers hate to miss. You get started on a lesson unit and then it snows and you are out for a while and you basically have to start all over again. Fortunately we didn't get into an actual lesson so maybe we can pick up at the beginning of the new lesson and start from there when ever that may be. ... Whoa what a time warp. While I was posting this blog the power went out and it has been exactly a week since I have been able to get back on finish It is now Monday, Feb. 2 I am setting in a Burger KIng that has wi-fi internet finishing up this post. It has been a rough week. We went to stay with my in-laws. The first night all we had was a kerosene heater. Then we went to my brother inlaws house He had gas logs. Then Friday we went and got a generator to run the heater and the refrigerator. We still have no electricity as of an hour ago. I hope it is on by tomorrow. Needless to say we have had no school since then and are not going back until next Monday at the earliest. This could not have come at a worse time right in the middle of Student Teaching. I hope we can salvage the rest of the year and learn a great deal. I do not know when I will get to post again, but maybe the electricity will be on soon.
