With the first evaluation behind me, there is a new week in front of me to try to get things on the way. Today I didn't really teach a lesson. The students had to go back and revise a portfolio piece that they wrote the first week of my student teaching placement. All I really did was sit and monitor the classroom with some of the students while my ST was in the computer lab with some of the rest of the class. So I had a chance to sit and reflect and think of what I needed to do get my classes in order. The first week I taught I just modeled the way my ST handled the class. He is an excellent teacher and makes it look easy, but the one thing that I did not have that he does is the students respect. They did not take me seriously. Some of them were not giving me the respect that I had to have to be able to handle the classroom. With the advise of Dr. Gibson and also from my ST I set down and made some classroom rules and procedures. I am going to go through them with my classes tomorrow and hopefully this will make things better. We shall see tomorrow.
