Today is the day. I finally start to teach today. I have made my lesson plan and am prepared. I get to school and I find out that 6th period the class I am going to teach we are having a pep rally the last thirty minutes of the day. SO my plans have changed a bit. I did go ahead and teach but it was abbreviated. I did well starting out. I did a bell ringer an essential question and then took up the homework from the day before. I got the lesson started and we were doing good up until the band and the cheerleaders were called out to get ready for the pep rally. I had to basically shut down class after that because I couldn't go on with what I was doing because the others were going to miss out. So we just held it together for about ten minutes until the pep rally started. My supervising teacher said that was the way it is, to just get used to having your plans changed. He said that was a part of teaching, adapting to changes and overcoming and improvising at the last minute to keep things in order. To top it off, we had a teachers meeting after school. It was interesting to see how decisions were made. The principal was very efficient in conducting the meeting. I was impressed with how she presented the information. I am going to teach two classes tomorrow, so that is going to be interesting.
