Wednesday March 18
This week I realized what I have heard other teachers talk about before. Some call it a "a ha" moment. It was in the 8th grade Science class, I was teaching a lesson on balancing chemical equations, which I have struggled with in the past. I had introduced it to the class and gave the students a practice sheet to work on. I was hoovering around the room answering questions and giving cues when I saw it happen. One by one I saw the lightbulbs over their heads coming on. It gave me a sense of pride that made all of this work and struggle for the past 10 weeks to finally feel like I was making a difference. I never got that feeling in my first placement where I was teaching World History. Science is more interesting to me and I feel that I can make it more interesting to my students. I felt really good and was excited to get to school the next day to do it all over again.
